Criteria - The Alan Catlin is an award which is presented to the Match Official who shows excellent commitment to Officiating.

• He/she is supportive, positive and constructive with commentary toward other Match Officials.
• They may have a mentoring role – but is not essential.
• Is supportive of the Cl​ubs, the League, the VRLRA – and the directives of the latter.
• Contributes to the activities of the VRLRA off-field.
• Assists with the development of the game through Officiating activities.
• This person is respectful, courteous, listens and motivates others to be professional and personable both on and off the field.
• This Referee leads by example, and – due to his/her efforts – other participants see Officiating in a positive light.
